At last. SA v NZ ODIs to be screened here
0Finally we have video coverage of the New Zealand tour to South Africa.
Cricket South Africa has come to the party after SKY NZ and IMG fought out a ridiculously stubborn stalemate. Tomorrow night’s ODI from Potchefstroom may be played at a city hard to say, but at least it will be seen. It will be on the Cricket South Africa website, with geoblocking turned off. And Potchefstroom is a beautiful place like so much of South Africa.
International cricket joins the list of sports to be covered legally online in New Zealand. The back door is more than just prised open now; it is now flapping.
A lot of people are still not comfortable with illegal internet streams. There is the morality of it, non technically savvy people find them hard to locate, and the quality and reliability is usually pretty suspect.
Dodgy feeds are also a good way of inviting Trojan viruses onto your PC, and are there seriously that many hot looking Ukranian women who love you from that start?
This will be an interesting test for the ever evolving world of sport consumption in New Zealand, but a precedent is being set; albeit in slightly strange circumstances.
SKY made this bed; tonight they get to sleep in it.
