The IPL of cricket tipping:

Just like a slips cordon, a group of cricket tragics lean forward, outstretch their hands, fingers pointing down, and take a punt on various aspects of the New Zealand tour of England.

So how will this work?

A bit like a Harmison over, this promises to be all over the show. We will have individual rounds for each test, as well as one for the series as a whole. The ODIs and Twenty20 matches will also be covered, and if New Zealand is still without a win by then we may even stretch it to the Scotland and Ireland matches.

Each question will score 2 points and we reserve the right to award bonus points where we think an answer deserves it.

So here we go then: The Test Series as a whole.

The Questions

Series outcome.
NZ top run scorer
Eng top run scorer.
NZ leading wicket taker
Eng leading wicket taker.
Chris Martin: more runs or wickets?
Leg side sloggers: Such a Samoan / South African thing. Who will score more runs: Taylor or KP?
V is for Captain: Who will end up with the higher batting average: Vettori or Vaughan
How many tests will Flintoff play?
Man of the series.

Sportsfreak Picks:

Eng 2-0. Although the UK based bloggers are at a huge advantage here with inside weather instincts.
Taylor. He seems to go better with a bad build-up.
Cook. Mainly because it’s just too hard to type Bell or KP to that question.
Martin. Surely his luck will change some day.
Sidebottom. Granted, a lazy choice, but still accurate.
A draw.
Taylor. Remember he is now under MD Crowe’s gentle hand.
Vettori.
1. England are more balanced without him anyway.
Collingwood. Can’t have a test series in England without Collingwood picking up some kind of medal.

Eng 3-0. Unless it rains. Or the BCCI suddenly decides to let ICL players play for NZ again.
Taylor. So long as he doesn't keep trying to hit leg-side sixes.
Pietersen. My theory is he needs a big crowd to perform in front of - and he will get those in England.
Mills. Although I have a sneaking suspicion he will break down at some point.
Sidebottom. Mainly because the selectors will chop and change and Sidebottom will be the only constant.
Runs. He has averaged 3.66 in the last year, up from his career average of 2.55. It is his season to shine.
KP. Taylor looks so much better when he is playing straight.
Vaughan. He will be patchy (again), but I smell a big hundred for him somewhere in the series.
Two. Injury or the selectors' suspicions about his fitness will keep him out of one test.
Sidebottom. Left-arm swing at pace? New Zealand has always struggled against it. Just ask Wasim Akram.

3-0 England, because we always think England will win every game, even if they do always seem to stuff up at Lord's.
Daniel Vettori, who should move up a spot or two in the batting order. In fact, maybe he should do a Mark Richardson and turn himself into an opener.
Alastair Cook. We literally have no opinion on this in reality.
Kyle Mills.
Monty Panesar, assuming he gets a hatful at Old Trafford.
Runs. Three fours down to third man.
KP because he knows English pitches better.
Vettori, although Vaughan tends to come good when he's under pressure, which he increasingly is.
Two, after England make a balls of the Lord's Test.
Flintoff for turning the series with a stack of wickets. Not too many wickets though. Not more than Panesar.

England 1 NZ 1 The Weather 1 It is after all England in May.
Jamie How So long as some one scores some runs and How does play a straight bat.
KP It is time for him to get back in touch with his inner bully.
Tim Southee Has some ability and is still too young to really know fear.
The Lion of Huddersfield aka Sidebottom Will continue to mesmerise with toss of those locks.
Runs Even without a batting video he should be able to employ the outside edge a couple of times.
KP If the ball moves, and it will, I can’t see Taylor making contact that often.
Vaughan Can’t help thinking Vettori is a statistically anomaly of the Hussey variety.
1 But I have no idea why

1-1. England are bound to lose a test and another is bound to succumb to rain.
Ross Taylor. He's the next big thing in NZ.
Kevin Pieterson. There ain't nobody else.
Tim Southee. (See comment on 2 for why)
Ryan Sidebottom. He mauled the Kiwis in their backyard.
Runs. A few lucky edges will get him through.
Andrew Strauss. Just thought I'd hedge my answers ;-)
Vettori and he will double Vaughans.
Half. He will break down after the 1st innings of the 1st test.
Sidebottom and Ross Taylor. England always announced a player of the series from each side don't they? or is that a thing of the past? If i have to choose 1 I'd go for Taylor. Reasons above.
