In terms of Stadium design I think where NZ venues in general miss the mark is in the fence or boundary lines they select. In most examples I can think of the fence line is quite a way back from the actual stands – meaning when the public is moving around they are out on the streets or lining up for entry across the road – which causes grief.
The modern way is to remove the fences with people able to move freely around the outside while being close and the entry or control points are right on the back of the stands themselves minimising disruption.
Building a new facility I hope Dunedin do that as a key to success there is also being able to move around on the back of the stands once through the control point. When you whack a whole heap of existing stands together this is very hard to achieve.
