Fitzy & Drake were test players in France 86 (Gallagher also toured as a mid-weeker and Fox was well-established as an All Black at that stage but was kept out of test XV by Frano).

Jones was once-in-a-lifetime player (who arguably may not have even been selected had the Current NZRFU Chairman not kept getting knocked out (remember he was the incumbent test skipper at the end of 1986).

Remember we also got creamed in Nantes which really opened things up for new players in the next year too….
