Not sure what relevance playing tests has in a World Cup year, if that’s to be the focus.
The strange thing about this schedule is that they’ve got most things right, but fall over at the 20/20 bit.
Playing half the 1st Class season in a block leading into the Lankan tests is as good a prep as we normally get (even if it’s a bit ruined by playing most of them with a howling nor-wester around)
Then there’s the one-day games running at the same time as the Lankan ODIs and the VB Series, immediately before the World Cup.
But they still haven’t worked out what to do with 20/20. It’s still at nowhere near the level it’s at in England; it seems as if it’s seen as a money-making thing only; shoved into rain-delay days like that.
