Ricket was probably one of the biggest bolters of all time (along with Biff’s hero Mike McCool from the Bush)
Then there’s the other type of left-field AB selection; being a Ranfurly Shield All Black; those who made the side because they were made to look good in provincial rugby.
There’ve been a heap from Red and Black country in recent years; Ralph, Blair, Broomhall etc, and going back there’s Bernie McAverage, Mark Carter, Jamie Salmon etc….
And Richie McCaw….
