Just had a look at the schedule for Auckland. Apart from the current game against Canterbury, they also have a State Championship game starting next week on Eden Park #2. Obviously it is too short notice to expect them to change that.
But their next home game is not until March 5-8, also scheduled for Eden Park #2.
Surely that would be the ideal game to take to somewhere like Colin Maiden Park (or, God forbid, Abany) to test the waters as far as wickets etc go?
If Eden Park is goooooooone for Auckland Cricket, it seems sensible that they would try somewhere else in the meantime.
I assume there are a few contractual obligations that would have to be met, but when you consider that there will probably only be a couple of hundred attendees over the course of the 4 days, the financial burden would not be that difficult to compensate.
