Other than Wgtn really enjoying the games, Wgtn were very poor yet again, but
was very impressed with Tasman, in fact most of the teams are playing good rugby. How good are those 1st-fives SSMO ?
September 22, 2014 at 12:47 pm #15802One’s an All Black, one’s a future AB and the third is a very useful player in his own right. Cruden will play the remainder of ITM for Turbos, Otere Black will be run on and Te Kure is spare for the time being.
Seriously injuries aside that Wellington team is lacklustre. All Teams in this competition pride themselves on home results and a team that has trouble even doing that deserves to play in the same comp as North Harbour.
The way it’s (the competition) panning out Wellington will also join former rugby powerhouse Otago in the Championship. Meanwhile Manawatu (unless Hawkes Bay rob us again), Tasman and CM will be in the Premiership next year.
Who said this competition wasn’t exciting?

SSMO.
September 22, 2014 at 1:52 pm #15804Yeah, there’s some very good 1st-fives out there… only problem is Wgtn or the Canes don’t like to buy in players, which has being a huge downfall over the years by them, can’t remember how many times that I’ve said that I wanted the Canes to Buy in some quality forwards year after year.
Agreed, other than the injuries there’s no excuses for those lacklustre performances & a real lack of concentration, making far too many basic mistakes a lot of times with hardly any pressure on them.
Christ, it’s going to be embarrassing if we drop down to the championship, looking very likely though.

September 26, 2014 at 9:54 am #15845Yeah, like Super Rugby a fair bit of the ITM Cup format is ludicrous… as you’re basically saying just have one comp with 14 teams & play each other once, having the 2 comps with crossover games & teams not all getting play each over is just a complete bloody shambles.
Would like to see all the midweek games cut out, just have one match on a Friday night, play the rest of the matches in daytime on Saturday & Sunday.

October 2, 2014 at 11:30 am #15868A few years ago Manawatu won the Championship in round robin and won well. In the “final” they were pipped by second place Hawkes Bay and the Bay were promoted. It’s looking highly likely that same will happen this year. The only good thing coming from this is Wellington will join us in the comp.
October 2, 2014 at 2:50 pm #15869Manawatu are playing really well, same can be said for the Naki & Tasman.
Stu Wilson said on the radio the other day, ” if someone had said to me before the comp started Wgtn would finish bottom of the comp I would of laughed at them, that would of been everyone’s thoughts, unfortunately the nightmare actually happened.
October 6, 2014 at 8:12 pm #15903Being a Wgtn supporter glad our season is almost at an end, can’t take anymore bloody torture, hahaha, oh well, if you don’t laugh you’d cry.
Manawatu are looking very good to be in the Premiership next year.

Hawke’s Bay – { p9 } – 26pts
Northland – { p9 } – 25pts
Southland – { p9 } – 17pts

12th Oct – Tasman v Counties { Blenheim } – 4:35pmOctober 10, 2014 at 2:50 pm #15944Read it and (no not weep) glorify!
October 10, 2014 at 3:49 pm #15945Have always found our provincial rugby a top watch… this year there’s being hardly any diif between the Premiership & Championship teams, so may as well just have one Comp of 14.
If Cant. get all their AB forwards back they’ll probably win it again… but if the AB players don’t play in the later stages I’d favour Tasman winning the premiership, with Manawatu taking out the Championship.
