There was a theory in the English soccer that when the 3 point-win was introduced a London side could never again win the league; given they get more draws because home / away counts for bugger all in a derby match.
The only thing that negates that is that there’s probably a similar number of teams in the Manchester / Liverpool / Bolton region .
So Villa have no excuses really.
