This forum has to have a Radio Sport thread, just so I can whinge periodically.
Got annoyed yesterday listening to the leeg. You’d think after the number of times he’s played for our national team that Allan Mac might be able to pronounce Kieran Foran’s name by now. It’s not difficult.

July 28, 2014 at 11:07 pm #15311Heard the Kevin Fallon interview this morning, sounds like the bloke was railroaded, he’s certainly a good coach, but the idiot doesn’t help himself by going on & on about stuff like, I did this, I did that, if it wasn’t for me etc… what a wanker !

July 30, 2014 at 11:46 am #15333Unless I’m off the mark a wanker is someone who has never attained anything and has nothing to brag about. Someone that can brag has obviously bested others.
July 30, 2014 at 11:16 pm #15343Down to interpretation I suppose… the way I look at it there’s different levels, from what you’re saying I’d refer to them as a ‘ complete wanker ‘
but someone that’s a good coach & comes across as a bit of a dickhead would place in the wanker category.August 1, 2014 at 1:16 pm #15361The correspondent they get out of Wellington from time to time is the star of the morning shows…
… Nick Mills I think his name is…
August 11, 2014 at 12:45 pm #15427Was accidentally subjected to a couple of minutes of the CGW breakfast this morning when switching on radio to wake recalcitrant teenager.
Mark Richardson was doing a ‘public service announcement’ which consisted of him moaning that when he sat in somebody else’s seat at the Warriors match, the owner of said ticket came along and was rude enough to ask him to move. Apparently wanting to sit in the seat you’ve purchased makes one an ‘anal retentive’.
September 22, 2014 at 12:29 pm #15799Bloody ridiculous the other day when Henry said it wouldn’t be a bad thing if the AB’s lost a match before the WC, rubbish !!! the AB’s are as good as what they are because they always look to improve from their last game, whether that match was an average one or a very good one, same can be said of anything anyone does, if you ‘ always look to improve ‘ it keep your standards up.
September 22, 2014 at 12:37 pm #15800Actually he made a whole lot of sense, especially when he said it in context to RWC 2007 loss to France. There’s an old adage in sport, when you want to win well you first need to taste defeat and all that brings with it, to make you hungrier not to go there ever again.
September 22, 2014 at 2:19 pm #15805Yeah, after a loss it makes you focus on what you did wrong, but why should a team have to lose a game to make them refocus again, shouldn’t come into the mindset, you go out there to try & win each game as it comes.
On Henry, never rated him much as a coach… what a complete shambles 2007 was,
rugby has heaps to do about continuity, at least leading into the last year before the 2007 RWC Henry should of been playing his best 15 on the field every test, Christ, that was just waiting for a car crash to happen.September 22, 2014 at 2:31 pm #15806Disagree. Henry only had one real blemish as coach, that 2007 France loss and he did say he’d fall on his sword. NZRU saw it differently and saw his potential, which was duly rewarded. As for best 15 every game, that concept died years ago with run on reserves, and besides Henry managed to win a RWC with the countries fourth best 1st Five. The revolving door policy means he has players that fit the game plan and ethos so if there is an injury whoever slots straight in is already in the game plan.
September 22, 2014 at 3:46 pm #15808One of the main reasons they struggled against France was because they were very disjointed, due to henry basically not starting the same team leading up to that tournament, our tactics were very poor that day as well.
Henry used some very silly tactics as coach, one been especially silly, getting our players to hold onto the ball close to our own goal line trying to work the ball upfield keeping it in hand in the forwards, obviously should of just kicked the ball out upfield or at least kick the ball away from our goal line, the astonishing thing to me is that they just didn’t do it in one game they played 3 or 4 games in a row like that until they finally decided to drop that crazy tactic.
September 22, 2014 at 4:33 pm #15809There were tactical problems in that France game, but it’s worth noting that if the first XV is fielded in every match, that’s not very good preparation for losing two first fives injured in the same match.
September 22, 2014 at 5:35 pm #15810Don’t mind changing 2 or maybe 3 players each game, the fact was he was changing well over half the team each game, on some occasions the whole team,
by doing so you’re never going to get the best performance out of your team combinations/continuity wise.Losing two 1st-Fives in the same game is just unlucky, injuries are going to happen anyway, it’s a physical game.
September 29, 2014 at 10:12 am #15853A bloke from Wgtn rang up RS this morning saying it’s all the Wgtn coaches fault that the team are playing so poorly so he should be sacked, some of the people that ring up the show make some unbelievably thick comments, what a moron !… fact is if any team in the comp had being hit with as many injuries as Wgtn { including Cant. } they would be floundering right down the bottom of the table too.
October 2, 2014 at 10:29 am #15866Heard Ian Smith say last year that when he was asked to commentate for Sky he thought it was going to be on cricket only, but they asked him to commentate on rugby too, he replied, ” but I don’t know much about rugby ” well, he was certainly spot on there… in the Shield match last night a Wgtn lock was sent to the sin-bin about 3 minutes before half time & Hawkes Bay were about 20 metres out from the Wgtn goal line, H.B. chose to kick the ball about 5 metres out from our goal line, Smith said, ” that’s a brave call ” rubbish ! was a no-brainer to go for a try, kicking the ball out a few metres from our goal line, then set up a rolling maul against a 7 men pack.
