Top effort by our batsmen in the end getting just over 400… Christ, the outfield is a hell of a slow, if we can keep the bowling tight with good fielding there’s every chance we can get a decent lead & really apply the pressure on the Paki’s for a change.
November 20, 2014 at 12:36 pm #16250With them being 281 for 6 we’re in a pretty good position… our lower order batsmen look to be quite a bit better than theirs, so if we can pick up an early wicket { especially Ahmed } we can really apply the blowtorch to them.

November 21, 2014 at 11:01 am #16275Unfortunately we couldn’t knock over Ahmed early, only have lead of 10, instead of a very handy margin.
Our openers were going along great guns until Latham was sawn-off, shocking fuckin’ decision, there was no clear evidence to give him out, therefore the decision should of obviously gone in favour of the batsman… well done Taylor, 77 not out so far, haven’t seen any of his batting, must of worked heaps on his technique against spinners to still be there, hope we can add at least another 50 runs or so.
November 22, 2014 at 10:49 am #16276Our spinners performed poorly on the 5th day, bowled too short & wide & didn’t use the footmarks enough… that said, it was a massive improvement from the 1st test, weren’t able to force the win but won more sessions than them, so gives us some momentum going into the last test.
November 26, 2014 at 1:23 pm #16298Hopefully we win the toss.
3rd Test

November 29, 2014 at 11:02 am #16323That was like watching ODI batting last night, great stuff !
Obviously NZ are showing a ton of respect for Hughes by not bowling any bouncers, this pitch has a bit more pace than the other two, but by not bowling bouncers on these slow piches it’s allowed us to apply quite a bit more pressure on Pakistan & Craig has cashed in on it… outstanding controlled aggression by McCullum, poor bowling by Pakistan though, overdone the bouncers, especially on these sort of wickets, which McCullum is taking full advantage of, hope it continues & they don’t wake up by bowling fuller & straighter.
With them winning the toss looked like they were going to get 500 plus, now we’re in an excellent position to put the squeeze on them.
November 30, 2014 at 9:11 pm #16341NZ went really well in the 2nd test, but going even better in this 3rd one, we hit 22 6’s, breaking the world record for the number of 6’s in a test innings.
We have Pakistan 30 for 3 & they still trail by 309… brilliant swing bowling by Boult & Southee.
December 1, 2014 at 9:53 am #16342Superb test win by NZ… went to bed about 1am, with Shafiq being such a good player of spin found it a very strange tactic that we continued to bowl spin from both ends for long periods.
Would of given McCullum Man Of The Match over Craig… it was McCullum’s excellent run rate that gave us the momentum to put us in the position to win the match, scoring a great double hundred.

December 9, 2014 at 11:02 am #16389shocker !…Should never of lost that one, had them 86 for 5, just didn’t keep the pressure on.
Strange call to send McCullum, Southee & Boult home ???
December 9, 2014 at 11:42 am #16390final ODI 19 December, Boxing Day Test starts, er, Boxing Day.
Both bearing in mind this ODI series isn’t really part of the World Cup preparation. Just part of the standard programme of reciprocal tours. Be good to have a first-choice team on the park but in the grander scheme it’s more valuable for them to be playing when Pakistan visits here in January.
December 10, 2014 at 12:57 pm #16396Great that we’re back to playing more tests on Boxing Day.
With all the other regulars still playing in the ODI’s it’s a bit mind-boggling
they sent the other 3 players back home to prepare for the home series.December 15, 2014 at 8:08 am #16431I guess some minds are more easily boggled than others.
NZ picked six specialist bowlers for the Test trip to the UAE (Southee, Bracewell, Boult, Wagner, Craig, Sodhi) and it seems reasonable to assume the attack for the Boxing Day Test will be drawn from that group. Extensive analysis reveals that in fact none of these players are in the UAE for this one-day series.
