Have been involved with the running of the TSB Womens Pro Tour this week. Went smoothly, huge kudos to volunteers. Sally Fitzgibbons took it out, seemed to surf at a level above everyone else all week. Check out Alanna Blanchard in the new movie 'Soul Surfer', a film about Bethany Hamilton who lost an arm due to a shark attack.
The Womens Tour is in jeopardy due to sponsorship, it will be interesting to see if it returns to Taranaki next year as the hosting contract is up.Both years the tour has 'missed out' with the waves, however the events have gone smoothly. The tour has dropped 3 events, from 9 to 6.
The Australian reports “Blame Slater for the women's financial woes. Everything he touches turns to marketing gold. A men's sponsorship bonanza, highlighted by a new event at Long Island, New York, in September, coincides with the women losing ground..”
P.S Just worked out the maths
