Sporting Pictures of the week :- 31 October
0The Georgie Pie Super Smash starts this weekend. And to celebrate, they got together at NZ Cricket over a laptop and Paint, and put together the official promo picture. It’s bound to grow on us.
Glenn Maxwell is one of the world’s highest paid cricketers, and it has been a mystery to many how this has come about; his record isn’t that flash. But he’s a promoter’s dream; here he is doing the UAE Urban chic thing.
And then, proving his versatility, he’s off to the desert to do another promotional shoot.
On the subject of promotional shoots, here are the Rolling Stones in Adelaide hyping up next year’s Cricket World Cup.
As it turns out, it wasn’t Mick Jagger’s first visit to the Adelaide Oval. Ah, the glorious 1970s.
Australia are having a miserable time of it in the UAE, but at least David Warner had something to celebrate.
There was actually some cricket in New Zealand this week. Before the rain came on Labour Day, here’s World Cup wild card Matt Henry taking a pretty sharp caught and bowled chance.
Taranaki won the ITM Cup last weekend for the first time. What was not a first was the tradition of climbing the goalposts after a bit victory; apparently this tradition was big in the 1960s. Too much time with cows can do this to people.
Time for some more Big Sam. Here he is being embraced / photobombed by comedian Russell Brand in an after match interview.
Next in the series of Premier League footballers from their playing days. Arsene Wenger. Shiny shiny legs.
Shane Warne warning time. If you don’t want to watch then don’t scroll down.
He did a Q&A session during the week offering dating advice. Pink champagne on ice etc…
Thanks to Bruce Lim for the Henry photo. Pretty sure the other shots are best left unaccounted for
