Sporting pics of the week: August 16
0At last the Australia cricket media has something to celebrate. This is Ryan Harris bowling Joe Root in the fourth test, and apparently it’s the Ball of the Ashes. Not sure what’s distracting the Australian slips fieldsmen though.
More cricket, and here’s budding US batsman Tiger Woods practicing his ramp shot over the slips at the US PGA. He could go far that guy.
Crowd shots. That Spirit Fingers business is catching on. Here it is at Wgtn school 1st XV final. What would Ron Brierley make of that?
In contrast, here’s a really angry crowd. The demise of Coventry City is a reminder of the risks of running a professional sports team. They are now consigned to playing their home games in Northampton. Fortunately, the ground is overlooked by a bank where fans can get angry. Really angry.
If any reminder was needed of the spread of AFL over the ditch, here’s the crowd at ANZ Stadium for the Swans v Pies game last weekend. Bledisloe Test at the same venue yet to sell out.
And the sports photo of the week / year / all time. Oliver Morin’s shot has been everywhere, so here it is for posterity.
