1A World T20 Champs. Held in India, in 2016. Of course it was going to be measured by Twitter stats.
Here is a hypothetical Twitter XI based on mentions over the course of the tournament. Understandably, the team is filled with India players but somehow Australia’s Shane Watson did manage to scrape in to the side. Needless to say it’s a side that is skewed heavily towards batsmen.
The top five moments of the #WT20 based on conversation spikes were also analysed. Somewhat surprisingly, it was India defeating Australia to make the semis which drew the most conversation. Even more so than West Indies winning in a crazy final over, or even India beating its old enemy Pakistan. Sensing a pattern?
The final was actually only the fourth most talked about match of the tournament, with India’s games against Pakistan, Australia and West Indies all trumping the final. Pattern confirmed.
