The potential of the infographic
0The following clip is clearly nothing to do with sport. But, in coming up with this extraordinary infographic, NewtalkZB has set the bar somewhere for how news stories can be summarised.
It is a shame that it has taken this long for such a style to develop. There are many sporting events over the years that could have used the NewstalkZB treatment. What if…
1905 Deans Try against Wales. Complete with Deans being dragged back from over the line while the ref, dressed in formal street clothes, struggles his way up the park.
Underarm delivery. This one could really be hammed up. Rod Marsh crossing his arms in disgust, Edgar throwing his bat, and a cameo appearance from Rob Muldoon at the end of it all
Hand of God. There could be two angles to this. The handball goal itself could be hyped up making the hand itself disproportionately large, followed by CHEAT sprayed over Maradona’s face in a style similar to the last part of the featured video. Then his weaving run beating several defenders minutes later could be a load of fun.
2007 World Cup quarterfinal. Oh the drama; starting off with the worst photo of Wayne Barnes a budding designer can find.
McAlister sin-binning >>> BOO.
An injured Carter looking on helplessly from the stands >>> AWW.
And a forward pass, exaggerated obviously, as the clincher.
The Kick. Absolutely tailor-made for this treatment. Contrasting plots with All Black number 10s falling over one by one, with a bit of parallel tracking of Stephen Donald’s movements. From Hamilton to his white baiting spot, stopping in to buy a slab of Waikato Bitter on the way.
Americas Cup 2013. As long as the true glee of taking the 8-1 lead is captured.
Further suggestions welcomed.
