G’day ‘hounders. It’s the Swinehound #4- who will be the quiz cracker at Christmas?
The completely metaphorical (yet real) Swinehound Shield resides in Mid-Canterbury with Andrew Mitchell at the moment. Will it be spending the rest of 2018 down there?
Kicking off Edition #4 with a couple of football questions. Good luck to the defending champ and all participants…
1 Which oft-quoted football manager once said to the media: ‘Hooligans? Well there’s 92 club chairmen for a start.’
2 The colourful, ex-Manchester United coach Tommy Docherty had this to say about which manager: ‘If he were made of chocolate, he’d lick himself.’
(If you think give it more than a passing thought, the answer should be fairly straightforward).
3 Which British football club (whose crest is a type of bird) does our famous Keith Quinn avidly follow?
4 The national sport of Australia is generally acknowledged as what?
5 Whose biography was entitled ‘Biting Back?’
6 What is the lead-off stroke in a Swimming medley relay?
7 Nine All Blacks have played one hundred tests. Name at least seven of them.
8 What is the ‘maillot jaune’ in the Tour de France, and what is it given for?
Same rules as usual: Strictly no Google for anything, and one point per question. Absolutely no wussy half points..
You may post your answers in the Comments section below this piece. Or alternatively, tweet them @sportsfreak (not guaranteed a reply). Final answers will be posted around 24 hours later.
*And it’s not a question, but which two Black Caps look like they could almost play darts at the top-level? Answer: Captain Kane and Mitch Santner. I guess they would get enough down time to practise a bit, but even so, their ability at the board in a recent episode of ‘The Cricket Show’ was pretty damn good- they seem to be just born sports players. Lucky for cricket they chose that option.
