With us missing half our top order it’s a bit of a silly move experimenting with Neesham at the top, especially against a full-strength S.A. team… surely McCullum has to open with Guppy in the last ODI ? also don’t rate Brownlie much.
Vettori needs to buy a new pair of glasses after getting nowhere near the up & under catch from Southee’s bowling, after that complete shambles he needs to make up for it by picking up a few wickets.

Mills has pedigree, no denying, but it’s time the fresh kids had a go and with the bowling lineup I suggest there simply isn’t nay room for him anymore.Signman said :
Agreed, we’ve never had so much depth in our bowling before, all we are missing is the really quick pace bowling of Milne, is he still injured ?
Not sure how to reply to a members post compared to the old SF site, so in the meantime will just copy & paste.Didn’t see their last match, good to hear the Phoenix won away 2-1… was a total brain explosion from Doyle giving away one of the dumbest own goals I’ve ever seen, didn’t even look to see where our goal keeper was or think of another option, just blindly passed the ball into his own net.

On Guptill, he couldn’t have a better bloke than Crowe to help him… the next couple of ODI’s should give us a better gage to see if he can show more improvement with his technique etc.
Yeah, Ronchi & Boult were outstanding… our top order were bloody poor, looked like we were going to get bowled out for about 160 or less at one stage, luckily they bowled some loose stuff, so we ended up getting an ok sort of score, but was never really going to be enough.
It’s very debatable whether Ryder should be allowed to return, but if he was batting at the top of the order again our batting line up would definitely be quite a bit stronger & his bowling an added bonus.
Manawatu by 12… Tasman by 5
Championship Final :
Manawatu v Hawkes Bay { Palmerston }
Fri : 24th Oct – 7.35pm
Sky Sport 1Premiership Final :
Naki v Tasman { New Plymouth }
Sat : 25th Oct – 7.35pm
Sky Sport 1Was good quick thinking by Aaron Smith to take a tap & score close to the line, but most times these days refs don’t allow players to take a quick tap, so I suppose we were very lucky he allowed it.
True, his ticker is waning, lost a bit of pace, that’s going to happen to anyone with the age thing though, but when you consider he’s played most of the time at 7 where you get a hell of a pounding, it’s a wonder he can still walk let alone keep playing, hahaha, our depth off the bench made a big diff to get us across the line.

TAB odds : NZ $2.45 – South Africa $1.50
Thought Naki player Blade Thomson was pretty unlucky.
On our 3 older players McCaw, Carter & Mealamu… would of only selected McCaw,
he’s shown he can play the whole game test after test & is still playing well at test level, Mealamu played well in that whole game against S.A, just can’t see him doing it game after game at this level & Carter’s too big a risk, if he starts there’s every chance he’ll come off with a leg injury early in the first half, which would then leave us without cover at 10 on the bench.McCaw would have to go down as our best player ever… was watching one of the ITM Cup matches about 3 weeks ago & a former player was telling the sky commentator that when he was playing with McCaw in the under 20 stuff all the team mates use to call him ‘ 3rd lung ‘ sounds about right, the bloke has an amazing engine.

Strange call by the Tasman coach not starting his top team when the top qualifying spot was up for grabs ?
Disorganised effort by the Phoenix & their marking on both flanks was pathetic, seriously need to get rid of some of the deadwood in defence, obviously Sigmund and Durante being the main ones.
Why was McGlinchey playing as a striker ??? when he would be much more valuable to the team as a midfielder.
Was really disappointing in the last few minutes when snail-Sigmund was too slow to get across & cover allowing them to beat us 2-1
