Unfortunately we couldn’t knock over Ahmed early, only have lead of 10, instead of a very handy margin.
Our openers were going along great guns until Latham was sawn-off, shocking fuckin’ decision, there was no clear evidence to give him out, therefore the decision should of obviously gone in favour of the batsman… well done Taylor, 77 not out so far, haven’t seen any of his batting, must of worked heaps on his technique against spinners to still be there, hope we can add at least another 50 runs or so.
With them being 281 for 6 we’re in a pretty good position… our lower order batsmen look to be quite a bit better than theirs, so if we can pick up an early wicket { especially Ahmed } we can really apply the blowtorch to them.

Top effort by our batsmen in the end getting just over 400… Christ, the outfield is a hell of a slow, if we can keep the bowling tight with good fielding there’s every chance we can get a decent lead & really apply the pressure on the Paki’s for a change.
2nd Test
Tonight – 7pm
Sky Sport 2.Find it quite amazing how incompetent most of the so called expert sports announcers are on RS { which has to involve analysing sport too } no wonder I hardly ever listen to the show, only when having breakfast or at smoko time, mainly to catch up on the sports results etc.
Devlin makes for a good comedian on RS, but is rubbish when talking in-depth on sport… the idiot made the comment that Perenara was very poor in the test ?the twat must be blind ? as I basically said in the ‘ End Of Year Tour ‘ thread, AB’s forwards didn’t clear them out very much at the breakdown, which gave us very slow ball, so the halfback had to try & dig it out, by that time their defence was on top of us, so our backline was nullified.
Also on the CGW show they were saying the AB’s played poorly… another ridiculous comment, Christ, if you have a team in any sport that plays game after game together, then all of a sudden change most of the players they are never going to play as a unit that well, but let that same team play together for a few games in a row & you’ll see a big improvement.
Scotland played pretty well… we got far too much slow ball at the breakdown, a fair bit of the time Perenara needed a bloody shovel to dig the ball out, disappointed our forwards didn’t clean out & blow past the ball enough, after 13 changes though the team was always going to struggle continuity wise.

Latham was given a great compliment by the Pakistan commentators, saying he plays spin that well you’d think he’d being playing on these sort of wickets all his life… Taylors a nightmare though against their spinners, he goes far too hard at the ball when ‘ defending spin ‘
Spinners are clearly going to be a lot more accurate than pace bowlers because of the slower pace they bowl… ‘ therefore it’s absolutely bloody vital they get their technique right when defending the Pakistan spinners ‘
our top order would be idiots if they didn’t learn something from the technique Latham used, by letting the ball come to him & always playing with soft hands to help deaden the ball.Paki’s 269 for 1 at stumps.
Only watched the first session where they finished up 0-85, was very impressed with both our spinners… not very often Watling stuffs up an easy stumping, that’s the sort of keeping you’d expect from Ronchi.

Match referee : Andy Pycroft (ZIM)Even though the Phoenix won last night 1-0 it was another poor effort, the opposition had 8 of their starting players missing… wasn’t until we put on Krishna as a striker with the pace he has in that last 15 minutes or so that the whole team started to play much better moving the ball heaps faster upfield, didn’t stuff around like they did for most of the game, still have too many slow players at the back, need more pace there.
Would of started Crotty at 2nd-five.

Well, that was a bloody rubbish performance by the Phoenix… to win the next one they’ll have to improve a fair bit in all areas, marking was poor & far too much silly loose passing.
